2021-12-29
Recap of day 1: WieTec is back! With an impressive opening day exceptionally well attended, including a surprising number of vibrant curious buyers! In 2021, the show has continued to attract a crowd with unparalleled curiosity for emerging technologies.
After months of anticipation, the 14th edition of WieTec opened on Wednesday, June 2 at Shanghai National Exhibition & Convention Center. The trade show runs until June 4, and it gathers more than 2,500 exhibitors. Many in attendance described the first day as spectacular, includinig the CEO of CHC Group Gijs de Bruin, who attends the show despite international travel restrictions. This year the trade show is taking up three floors of the convention center and occupies seven halls. Because of the sudden Covid-19 outbtreak in Gunagdong province that counts more than 20 cases, the Green Transformation Towards Carbon Neutrality conference has been postponed to later date this year (to be confirmed with the organizer), as a satellite WieTec 2021 event. Many exhibitors are relieved that, despite the social distancing and measures that are a result of the Guangzhou outbreak, the show is taking place as scheduled.
Travel restrictions and the three-week quarantine policy meant that some international exhibitors won't be able to attend the show this year. "Allthough many international exibitors cannot attend in person, the overall effect is still positive because it creates more opportunities for the local and regional market to grow," says William Wang, the CEO of CHC Expo, the organizer of WieTec.
Describing the visitors, de Bruin said that the show had continued to attract a crowd with unparalleled curiosity for emerging technologies. Although WieTec online platform has produced strong sales since the onset of the global pandemic, he said that nothing compares to the live experience of being at the trade show.
At the show, several companies siezed the opportunity to launch their latest products and solutions for the first time in China and Asia Pacific, with innovations designed to improve wastewater treatment, solid waste treatment, air purification and home comfort systems. More details on interesting technologies unveiled at the 14th WieTec coming soon.
Of the Chinese market for environmental & home comfort technology in 2021, William Wang says,"China has recovered, the market is in good shape, the show gathers serious buyers, and it proves that Shanghai is a hub of the environmental and home comfort market in Asia."
This fully in-person event includes exhibit halls, networking receptions and technical sessions providing the latest information on clean water, water innovation, environmental solutions, networking opportunities, sponsorships and exhibits.
